Deadly famines no longer kill in Asia, but remain in Africa
Famine caused millions of deaths in Asia during the mid 20th century, but is now mostly concentrated in the Horn of Africa.

Data for 20th century is taken from "Famine in the twentieth century"; data for 21st century is taken from Tufts Famine Trends database which includes any famine for which the upper estimate of excess deaths falls above 100,000. Edited to include North Korea as part of East Asia. Mortality for the Chinese famine of 1958-62 is divided equally between the 1950s and 1960s.
